Subject Area: Food Stamps program, policy and operations

Overall Responsibilities: 

The Consultant works as part of a consulting team with senior staff.  The consultant will be responsible for supporting food stamp policy reviews, state government food stamp operation reviews.  The consultant will be responsible for producing quality work, meeting client goals and objectives and developing solutions to client problems in a timely manner.  Experience with state government food stamp operations, federal government food stamp policy and oversight, or other eligibility determination operations is required. Consultants must be able to draw sound conclusions based on data analysis and communicate findings effectively, both in person and in writing. Demonstrated expertise in government is preferred. Applicants must have strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications. Masters degree preferred. Those with prior experience working with food stamp or other entitlement programs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review agency programs and policies for food stamp case load, outreach, and error rate improvements.
  • Review agency business operations for customer service and efficiency improvements.
  • Understand complex federal regulations and requirements and analyze and interpret federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Assess best practices and compliance errors and provide technical assistance to clients.
  • Lead proposal writing teams, including writing sections, coordinating efforts, and preparing proposal submissions.
  • Prepare other written reports and materials for clients.
