Description:

FM Blake, a division of PCG, is the largest vendor for foster children’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) advocacy in the country. We work with state and county-based social service agencies to obtain the highest possible disability allowance rates from the Social Security Administration (SSA) in the shortest possible time, with least disruption to the organization.

FM Blake is currently seeking a Disability Entitlement Analyst for our Lewiston, ID office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as first-line contract liaison with County/State staff regarding day-to-day questions.
  • Provide training as needed to social workers regarding the SSI disability process and how it relates to children in foster care.
  • Responsible to screen, review and identify cases to be processed for SSI Disability on behalf of the county/state.
  • Assist the County with their internal system to screen out children for whom it would not be in the County’s best interest to file an application.  If this is not done prior to the electronic list being provided by the County, these cases will be screened out prior to the review being scheduled.
  • Work with the County assigned staff coordinating reviews to make sure all children who meet the funding criteria are screened for SSI eligibility. 
  • Contact social workers and/or foster parents/legal guardians to resolve any issues which impact the decision to file for SSI benefits.  Any specific issues that cannot be resolved during the case review will be completed by the development specialists prior to application. 
  • Conduct age 18 reviews and provide written report on all cases where an application is not filed or appealed.

The ideal candidate would have a relevant bachelor’s degree or three years experience in a human relations/social services related field who will:

  • Have working knowledge of funding sources available for foster care programs and how they affect a child’s eligibility for SSI/SSDI benefits.
  • Be able to interpret public social service programs as well as SSA programs.
  • Interviewing techniques including good interpersonal skills.
  • Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision
  • Be highly self-motivated and responsive to goals and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of California Welfare Systems (e.g., CalWIN, CWS/CMS) or other similar data bases a plus.
  • Must recognize and maintain the confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
  • Requires some travel depending location of branch office and account.
