CTE Literacy Works! provides the combination of support that will help you reach your goal of improving student reading, writing, and achievement:

• Professional Development for CTE Instructors
• Professional Development for CTE Directors/School Leaders
• Analysis of CTE State and National Certification Tests to improve instruction
• Analysis and dissemination of Center-wide Promising Practices

CTE students will:

• Realize that literacy skills are learnable, necessary, and add value to learning in the CTE classroom and shop/lab
• Improve comprehension and retention of technical information, vocabulary, and concepts
• Increase confidence and enthusiasm to think, learn, create and problem solve in preparation for 21st century workplaces

CTE instructors will:

• Learn how to actively support students' literacy development within the context of their CTE program
• Develop confidence and competence to teach students specific strategies that facilitate text comprehension, critical thinking, and content learning
