Foundations Release Report on Long Term Services and Supports

 

AARP, the Commonwealth Fund, and the SCAN Foundation have released an excellent report containing state-by-state "scorecards" on long term care services and supports for older adults, persons with physical disabilities, and family caregivers. The September 2011 report evaluates all states based on 25 measures related to affordability and access to services, consumer choice of providers and settings, quality of life/quality of care, and supports for family caregivers. CMS Releases Proposed Rules on Community First Choice Option

 

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released proposed rules on February 22 to implement the Community First Choice Option enacted under section 2401 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This ACA provision enables a state to receive a six percentage point increase in its Federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP) effective October 1, 2011 for services under the new option if the state submits an approvable state plan amendment to CMS.
