CHICAGO, February 27, 2019— For the third consecutive year, Public Consulting Group (PCG) recently hosted eight Chicago Public Schools (CPS) high school students as part of CPS’s Department of Career and Technical Education Job Shadow Day.

PCG's participation in this annual program is a key part of its efforts, in collaboration with CPS and the Illinois State Board of Education, to support students' college and career readiness.

The PCG Chicago office kicked off the Job Shadow Day by presenting an overview of PCG and the various areas that PCG serves within the public sector. Students also participated in a discussion about resume and interview preparation, and got a real-life lesson in data analysis through a half-hour exercise drawing from work PCG does to support clients with receiving appropriate Medicare reimbursements for their services.

“We felt this was a great opportunity for students to think about unique careers and how they can combine current interests into a career,” said Jennifer Mitchell, Career and Technical Education Partnership Development Liaison for Chicago Public Schools. “We are so grateful to all of the wonderful corporations and business partners who participate in our job shadow day and provide students with an inside look into the workforce.”

Reflecting on the job shadow program, PCG’s Education Practice Area Director Grant Blair said: “For over 30 years, PCG has been dedicated to helping our clients better serve populations in need because we truly care about improving lives. As an extension of our commitment to the public sector, we are honored to be a part of such a critical program in Chicago to support the education and careers of young people in a community where we live and work.”
