Governor Pat Quinn signed an Executive Order on July 30 creating the Illinois Health Care Reform Implementation Council. The Council is charged with the responsibility to develop recommendations to help Illinois design health insurance exchanges, implement consumer protection reforms, improve Medicaid services and enrollment systems, offer incentives to improve health care quality and treatment outcomes, identify federal and other grant opportunities, and promote the adoption and meaningful use of health information technology. Council members include directors of the Illinois Departments of Healthcare and Family Services, Human Services, Public Health, Aging, Insurance, and the Governor’s Office of Health Information Technology, among others. The Council will schedule public meetings throughout Illinois, and will submit its first report to Governor Quinn by December 31, 2010.
