Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell announced on September 14 his appointments to six task forces that will be working in coordination with his Health Reform Initiative Advisory Council to help develop a comprehensive health care reform strategy for the Commonwealth. Sixty-five distinguished appointees will serve on task forces examining Medicaid reform, insurance reform, service delivery and payment reform, service capacity, technology, and health care purchasing issues. Governor McDonnell and Secretary of Health and Human Resources William Hazel, M.D., emphasized the importance of offering affordable health care to all Virginians in an economically responsible manner. The initial task force meetings were completed on September 21 and 22.
