Steve McLean

A long-time educator with 25 years of service in several Ontario school leadership positions, Steve McLean is a senior advisor with PCG Education’s Montreal, Quebec office. In the past year, he has facilitated district, board, and school-level improvement planning sessions in Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, South Carolina, and Alberta. He has been responsible for district-wide implementation and training of a data warehouse tool and the resulting district and school improvement planning process. He currently works with school districts to improve teaching and learning through use of deliberate and strategic improvement planning processes that develop a district culture that values data-driven results and improved learning outcomes for students.

In Ontario, Mr. McLean taught in both the elementary and secondary panels and served as a principal at the district office and in several secondary schools. Most recently, he served as Principal of Rockland District High School in the Upper Canada District School Board, where he managed a staff of 35 and student population of 400 and oversaw budget, labor relations, staff hiring and supervision, community relations, curriculum implementation, program, student discipline, and health and safety. While there, he also served as a presenter to the Ontario Principals’ Council. Previously, Mr. McLean was Principal of Special Projects for the Upper Canada District School Board in Brockville, Ontario, where he led an implementation of Dashboard Metrics (Skopus™, a data analysis tool and SkoVision™, an electronic school improvement/success planning software) and developed and implemented a Board-wide Inclusive Technology Strategy.

Mr. McLean has a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He has been both a presenter and instructor for the Ontario Principals’ Council and for Queen’s University and the University of Ottawa, in both the Principal Qualification Program and Teacher Certification Process.
