Stephen Smith
As a senior associate with PCG Education, Stephen Smith coordinates professional development and technical assistance services that focus on strategic uses of data at school and district levels. He is a former high school principal with extensive experience in coaching school leadership teams on effective data use strategies and action planning. In his career at PCG Education, he has developed training materials that focus on multiple uses of data for accountability and instructional improvement, and how to create school-level data teams to institutionalize data-driven decision making. Mr. Smith has also been instrumental in the development of course ware and professional development activities to support the use of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Data Warehouse by district and school-level staff members. In addition to his course ware and professional development activities, Mr. Smith has conducted extensive program evaluation studies for the Carnegie Foundation and for federally funded Smaller Learning Community grants, and individual school districts.

In his more than 40 years in the education field, Stephen Smith has held roles of progressively increasing leadership, from Chairman of the Science Department at Masconomet High School to Coordinator for Curriculum and Program Evaluation for grades 7 through 12 in the Masconomet district to Principal of the district’s regional high school. In these positions, Mr. Smith developed the expertise in effective school data use, program evaluation, curriculum development and professional coaching which he currently shares with PCG Education clients.
