Following last month’s launch of the Project Success Resource Center, we are excited to announce an upcoming program (our first for the 2021-2022 school year!) designed specifically for new teachers who support students with disabilities. Here is everything you need to know about New Teacher Jump Start.

What is New Teacher Jump Start?

New Teacher Jump Start is a virtual professional learning opportunity for new teachers who support students with disabilities. Delivered in an online format (two half-day virtual sessions) by experts from our Project Success Resource Center, New Teacher Jump Start features relevant, engaging content designed specifically for new teachers. Participants who complete both virtual sessions will receive Professional Learning Certificates for six (6) hours of course work.

Sessions will cover a range of topics including: Presumed Competence and High Expectations; Student Communication and Core Vocabulary; Collaboration with Colleagues (general educators, administrators, paraprofessionals); Universally Designed Lesson Plans; Unpacking Standards/Alternate Standards; Specially Designed Instruction; and Individualized Education Program (IEP) Goal Writing Best Practices.

Who should register for New Teacher Jump Start?

As the name implies, New Teacher Jump Start is designed for new teachers, particularly those who will be supporting students with disabilities. Any special education teacher with zero to three (0-3) years of experience would benefit from this opportunity, so if you are a new special education teacher, this course is for you! Participants will build foundational skills that emphasize planning, collaboration, and instructional best practices.

When and where will New Teacher Jump Start take place?

New Teacher Jump Start is two half-days of virtual learning on August 18-19, 2021, from 8:30-11:30am ET each day. Instruction is presented in an online format via Zoom.

How do I register?

Individuals can register for New Teacher Jump Start via the Project Success Resource Center here. You may also contact Meredith Keedy-Merk at mkeedymerk@pcgus.com.

How much does the program cost?
